The Golden Fleece

13 06 2008

Today our robots completed the most difficult mission to date: retrieve
the fabled golden fleece of Greek legend by grabbing it off a tree! How
do robots grab something? Well, they need arms! Today the campers
built a huge variety of robot arms, from bulldozer scoopers to lobster
claws!

Aside from programming the robot’s arm to move, the campers also had to
program their robots to recognize the Golden Fleece. In the morning we
did a trial run and programmed the robots to drive down a colored
racetrack, using the light sensor to stop on the yellow square.

In the video, you can see one of our teams navigating the colored track.
The pictures show the girls going after the fleece in the afternoon, and
a close-up of a robot with an arm attached.
