On a rainy day…

You stare out your window wondering when the rain will stop. You just want to play outside, why can’t the rain just stop for a little while? If you’re like me, and need something to do on these rainy days, here’s a fun project that will keep your creative juices flowing!Oh, the rain...

Have you ever asked yourself these questions: Why can’t we drink rain water? Where does our clean water come from? How do we purify and clean rain water?

Water Filtration CycleA water filtration system is the answer! Water purification plants turn dirty water from rivers and lakes into safe, clean water for us to drink. Here’s the process.

  • Aeration – Allows gases into the water to escape by adding oxygen
  • Coagulation- Process that allows dirt in the water to chemically stick together
  • Sedimentation- Gravity pulls dirty clumps to the bottom of the jar.
  • Filtration – Filters out the dirty particles in the water.
  • Disinfection – Chemists use harsh chemicals to make the water safe to drink.

You can make your own water filtration system at home on a rainy day. Check out this cool video for the instructions!
